Dondo-Yaki

Did you know that Japanese people celebrate the festival
of the Little New Year which is called the "Koshogatu"
after the New Year's celebrations??

Historically, the "Koshogatu" took place around mid-February,
celebrating the first full moon of the year,
but nowadays the festival takes place on the 15th of January.
During the "Koshogatu", Japanese people play for an abundant harvest
or a good held for the year.
So, we are usually held a fire festival
which is called "Dondo-Yaki" on January 15th.
We gather New Year's ornaments in order to born them in a big bonfire.
It's also believed that spirits of the New Year
are supposed to go home with the smoke on this fire.
