Setsubun

As of today, it’s February!!!
Setsubun is held on February 3rd,
a custom to banish evils and calamities from households.
On the day, it involve a traditional of throwing
dried soy beans.
As you throw the beans,
you say “Oni wa Soto!! Fuku wa Uchi!!”.
It means “Devils out!! Good luck in!!”
And it is believed that one can maintain a good health
for the year by eating the same number of
thrown beans with the age.
There is also a widespread custom of eating ehomaki,
a long sushi roll, in one goes on the night of Setsubun
while facing silently toward the year’s “lucky” direction
with your eyes closed, wishing for perfect health
or praying for prosperity of business.
Don’t speak until you finish eating it.
Ehomaki had long eaten in the Kansai area since 1970s.
However, it gradually expand to nation-wide in the early 1990s.
Anyway, this year’s “lucky” direction is South-southeast!!!!!!
Let’s throw the beans and eat Ehomaki!!

oO
